Purely mechanical operations are carried out at the cutting and drilling workstation. We start off with epoxy laminate sheets coated with one or two layers of copper, which are then cut to obtain panels suited to the various processing operations.

Using CNC machines, holes of various diameter are then drilled in these panels, following prefixed coordinates for allocation of the electrical and/or electronic components, or to create electrical connections between the copper faces.

Handling the panels may seem a trivial operation, but this is certainly not the case: to this end, the supplier is requested to provide the basic material without scratches and dents.

ICS is currently equipped with 6 drilling heads, including one with linear motors on the 3 axes, which are capable of making blind holes.
